ANNOUNCEMENT

MASTER’S DEGREE ADMISSION – FIRST INTAKE 2020

Pursuant to the Regulation on Master’s Degree Training issued together with Circular No. 15/2014/TT-BGDĐT dated February 15, 2014;

Pursuant to Decision No. 4202/QĐ-BGDĐT dated October 4, 2016 by the Minister of Education and Training approving the Pilot Project on Reforming Master’s Admission at Hanoi University of Science and Technology for the period 2016–2021;

Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) hereby announces the first intake of the Master’s Degree Admission 2020 as follows:


1. Study Mode and Duration

  • Study mode: Full-time training under the credit-based system.

  • Duration: 1.5 years (3 semesters).


2. Training Programs

2.1 Master’s Programs in Science, Engineering, and Technology

Designed under two orientations:

  • Application-oriented: Suitable for learners currently working or aspiring to work in enterprises, organizations, and economic units.

  • Research-oriented: Suitable for learners currently working or aspiring to work in research, teaching, consulting, policy-making, or R&D positions.

2.2 Master’s Programs in Business Administration, Economic Management, and Engineering – Technology Management (application-oriented).

A detailed list of training programs, relevant and related disciplines can be found in Appendix 1.


3. Admission Requirements and Methods

3.1 Admission Requirements

Applicants to HUST’s Master’s programs must be Vietnamese citizens and satisfy the following conditions:

  1. Academic qualifications
    a) Graduated from a university in a relevant or corresponding major to the registered master’s program.
    b) Graduated from a university in a related major and completed the required bridging courses as stipulated.
    c) Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or Technology may apply for programs in Business Administration, Economic Management, or Engineering – Technology Management, provided that they complete the required supplementary courses (if applicable).
    d) Bachelor’s degrees issued by foreign institutions must undergo official recognition in accordance with current regulations.

  2. Professional experience: Depending on the specific requirements of each program or major.

  3. Personal record: Clear background, not under disciplinary action at the level of formal warning or higher, and not under criminal sentence; certified by the employer or local authority.

  4. Health condition: Must be physically fit for study.

  5. Application documents: Must be complete and submitted on time as prescribed.


3.2 Admission Methods

a) Admission by evaluation (non-exam):

  • Applicable to candidates applying for Research-oriented Master’s Programs in Science, Engineering, or Technology. (Detailed eligibility criteria are provided in Appendix 2).

b) Admission by examination:

  • Applicable to candidates applying for Application-oriented Master’s Programs, or Research-oriented programs who do not meet the evaluation criteria above.

  • Subjects: Three subjects – Advanced Mathematics, Fundamentals of Major (depending on the registered program), and English.

  • English exam exemption is possible according to Clause 3, Article 5 of Circular No. 15/2014/TT-BGDĐT dated May 15, 2014.


4. Application Preparation and Registration Procedure

4.1 Application Documents

a) For evaluation-based admission:

  • Application form (according to the prescribed template);

  • Copy of degree/certificate of graduation and university transcript;
    Candidates with foreign degrees must provide Degree Recognition Certificate issued by the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assurance – Ministry of Education and Training;

  • One (01) passport-sized photo (3x4 cm);

  • Research proposal (as per template);

  • Copies of published scientific papers (if any);

  • Foreign language certificate.

b) For examination-based admission:

  • Examination registration form (as per template);

  • Copy of degree/certificate of graduation and transcript; any conversion certificates (if applicable).

    • For bridging program candidates: include copies of previous degree(s) and transcripts.

    • For second-degree candidates: include copies of both first and second bachelor’s degrees and transcripts.

    • Candidates with foreign degrees must submit a Degree Recognition Certificate as above.

  • One (01) passport-sized photo (3x4 cm).


4.2 Registration and Application Fee

Fill in the required information following the instructions.

  • Registration and application period (for examination candidates): from October 15, 2019 to March 20, 2020.

  • Application fee: 650,000 VND (six hundred and fifty thousand Vietnamese dong), payable by bank transfer or in cash.

5. Tentative Admission Schedule

  • Entrance Examination: March 27–29, 2020.

  • Interview Schedule (for evaluation candidates): Multiple sessions, from December 1, 2019 to April 10, 2020, held at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

  • Examination results announcement: April 3, 2020.

  • Review request period: April 6–8, 2020.

  • Review results announcement: April 13, 2020.

  • Evaluation results announcement: Within 5 days after the interview.
