INTRODUCTION
The Department of Communication Engineering is a third-level academic unit under the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). The department was established on November 18, 2021, by decision of the Rector of HUST, as part of the university's transition to a new university governance model in accordance with the revised Education Law.

The Department of Communication Engineering is responsible for academic programs in the fields of Communication Engineering and Multimedia Engineering.

The Department oversees three main training programs: the Advanced Program in Electronics and Telecommunications (ET-E4), the Digital Communication and Multimedia Engineering Program (ET-E16), and the Joint Program in Electronics and Telecommunications with Leibniz University Hannover, Germany (ET-LUH).

Additionally, the Department contributes to teaching and academic management in the Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Program (ET1), particularly in specialized modules such as Information and Communication Engineering, Aerospace Electronics Engineering, and Multimedia Engineering.

The Department manages several specialized groups, including: Antennas and Microwaves, Information Theory, Digital Communications, Wireless Communications, Computer Networks, Telecommunication Networks, Multimedia, Aerospace Electronics, Human-Computer Interaction, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.


HISTORY
The Department of Communication Engineering was formed by merging the former departments of Information Engineering, Telecommunication Systems, and Electronics & Aerospace, which had previously been managed by the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications (since ...) and the School of Electronics and Telecommunications (since ...), along with staff from the MICA International Research Institute. On November 18, 2021, these units were consolidated into the current Department of Communication Engineering, with a total of 43 teaching staff.

The Department currently has 43 teaching staff members, including 1 Professor, 15 Associate Professors, 24 PhDs, and 3 Master's degree holders.


ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
The Department provides training in Communication Engineering and Multimedia Engineering at all levels: Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral.
